En m'annonçant sur le pallier je ne savais quel pied avancer. Face à cette maison de pierre particulière, j'avais le souffle à l'arrêt. C'est en entrant derrière toi que j'ai franchi l'obstacle. En pénétrant ces murs je me suis apaisé. Les lieux en eux même avaient le pouvoir d'étouffer les maux. Dés l'instant où la porte était franchie on s'affranchissait du passé. L'atmosphère qui y régnait redonnait à l'esprit le souffle épuisé. Les vitraux ont longtemps obnubilé mes regards, sans doute dû à la manière dont la lumière arrivait à les pénétrer. L'odeur aussi avait toute mon attention, on pouvait y respirer la sérénité. La simplicité du rendez-vous nous a fait asseoir. Discuter de longues minutes sur ces bancs rustiques me rapprochait encore plus de toi. T'étreindre dans la maison de Dieu était si tentant. Mais c'est en partant que cette visite allait prendre tout son sens. Jamais un seul instant, jamais auparavant, je ne m'étais imaginé faire un si grand saut. Tu m'as pris par le bout du bras et nous as dirigés vers les autels de prières. Devant nombre de ces bougies j'étais déjà hors de moi. Toutes ces flammes qui brillaient pour des pensées ou souhaits, toutes ces mèches qui se consumaient en guise d'espoir, toutes ces attentes adressées à un unique Saint; me faisaient relativiser sur la nature des choses. Et dans cet endroit tu m'as murmurer d'allumer un cierge. Chose que je n'avais jamais faite, chose que je ne savais pas comment faire. L'idée me plaisait bien, mais j'étais perdu. Je voulais le saisir pour voir ce qui allait se produire. Je voulais le brûler parce que, ce que j'imaginais impensable me paraissait maintenant comme une évidence. Comme si, jusqu'à maintenant, j'avais attendu le bon moment pour effectuer le geste. Comme si, jusqu'à maintenant, il ne fallait que la bonne personne pour m'y pousser. Me voyant à l'agonie dans mes pensées, tu m'as ordonné de poser ma main sur la tienne et de me laisser guider. Je ne répondais plus de moi, j'étais incapable de bouger. Tu as glissé la tienne sous la mienne que j'ai senti si légère. Je ne savais pas quoi dire et je ne disais rien. J'attendais la suite mais je voulais que ça dure une éternité. Tu as dirigées nos membres vers un cierge avec l'unique vue de le saisir. C'est avec ta main dans la mienne que j'effectuais mon premier pas. Te savoir à côté me donnait l'immunité. Ni indigne, ni souillé je ne me ressentais; au contraire, j'étais ouvert et sincère. Quand tu l'as attrapé j'étais transpercé, des pieds jusqu'à l'esprit des frissons m'ont envahi. Je me sentais partir, comme si l'éther lui même m'enivrait. Je ressentais l'abondance des émotions et la rareté du moment. Lorsque tu m'as commandé de faire un voeux, j'ai perçu nos mains en fusion sous le lumignon. La chaleur se rependait dans mes extrémités, jusqu'à atteindre mes secrets les plus enfouis. Mes valeurs repoussaient les limites que je leur avais fixées. Je voyais en moi ce que je n'osais pas apercevoir. J'entrais dans un autre monde à ta seule initiative. Au moment où tu l'as allumé c'était une consécration, un mouvement vers l'inconnue d'une destination. C'était un dialogue entre toi, moi, et notre avenir. Je me consumais à l'écart des regards indiscrets. Seule l'imminence comptait, rien autour ne pouvait me toucher. Je ne voulais pas m'en aller, je voulais rester. Comme si en étant figé, le moment pouvait perdurer. C'est ta voix qui m'a rappelé à la raison, mais c'est ta voix qui m'a fait comprendre, que ce voyage d'ailleurs on l'avait fait ensemble, que nos voeux étaient sans doute les mêmes, et que jamais je ne pourrais oublier cette traversée...
